Over the past few weeks, I have slowly, but surely, whipped my apartment into some type of presentable form. I set a quota for myself, and I have been forcing myself to hang a minimum of one picture on my wall per day. The apartment is not completely finished. I still need a desk, and I’m waiting to get my two vintage maps framed. However I’m really happy with how it’s turning out.
Remember the vintage Denver postcards that I picked up at an antique store in Weston, Missouri? I finally got around to framing them and hanging them on my wall! The frames are shadow boxes that I picked up at Hobby Lobby and painted. That pretty little wooden black shelf? Stolen from my mom.
I picked up the Colorado plates at an antique store in St. Joseph, and I stole the empty picture frame from my mom over Christmas break. My mom’s house definitely supplied most of the decor in my apartment. And just think, these are the cast off items. She has some amazing antique furniture. Anyway, the plate below the Colorado plate is currently a Wisconsin plate. It’s suppose to be a Pike’s Peak plate, but when I was packing my stuff I accidentally took the plate that my mom had bought (for her plate collection of course). I hung it for symmetrical reasons, and someday I will get the right plate there.
I have been avoiding hanging the lamps in my bedroom for three weeks, but I got around to hanging them today. I love the effect, and I wish I had done this weeks ago!
Hanging my coat rack has definitely revolutionized my life. I was hanging coats on my dining room table chairs for far too long. I also needed a place to hang my Trader Joe’s shopping bags. Oh Trader Joe’s, how I miss thee. I was spoiled in Atlanta.
Another great find from antiquing in Weston! This picture is hanging in my bedroom, and it’s one of my favorite pieces. It’s a painted silk medium of some sort. I don’t really know, I just love the way it looks.
As you can tell, I am a fan of the artistically placed empty picture frame. Another frame stolen from my mom. Shocking, I know.
Wine cork board.
Speaking of diplomas, for my college graduation my brother gave me this homemade wine cork board. I have had it in every apartment that I have lived in since graduation, and it matches my current decor scheme quite well. Treasures on the board include ticket stubs from Kings of Leon and Lady Gaga, a Team Trivia point slip from this past fall in Atlanta, and a Colorado card from my friend Emily.
Another Colorado plate? Yes. This black plate came from my mom, and we had a whole wall of these plates from various states in our house when I was growing up. On this plate, Greeley is misspelled, which is somewhat amusing. Poor Greeley. For bathroom storage, I took an antique Ball jar and this glass dish from my mom.
As you can tell, I am loving my apartment. Denver friends don’t worry, I’ll host an event soon!
